南アフリカでは著名なバブルガムのスター、ZiZi KongoことElizabeth Mkhwanaziによる95年、紛れもなくKwaito時代の作品です。
年代的に洗練されつつも、この国でしかなし得ない、メロディーライン、ビブラフォン、ドラミング、そして彼女の力強いズールー語によるボーカル。手に入れてからずっと聞き続けていて、先日の渋谷のMitsukiでNgidlalel 'Eduzeをかけましたが、好きすぎて自分が一番楽しかったです笑
ちなみにKwaitoをコレクト、発信し続けてる人は私の中で6人いまして、特にこのYoutubeにアップしているBikoは本当にすごい… でも彼でさえもまだ手に入れてないKwaitoもあって、私は到底足元にも及びませんが、世界は狭いということで…This 1995 release by ZiZi Kongo, a.k.a. Elizabeth Mkhwanazi, one of South Africa’s well-known Bubblegum stars - is unmistakably a product of the Kwaito era.
It sits in that perfect moment where the sound had begun to refine, yet still carried the raw, unmistakable musical DNA that could only come from South Africa.
The melody lines, the vibraphone touches, the drumming, and her powerful Zulu-language vocals all come together in a way that feels completely unique to this country and this era.
I’ve been listening to this record nonstop since I found it. I even played “Ngidlalel 'Eduze” at Mitsuki in Shibuya the other night- and honestly, I think enjoyed it the most because I love it so much😂
